Re: Holley 390 CFM or Back to 4 Carb set up?

First off, where do you live? Cold climate go to 4 carb setup. Warm weather state you can keep the centermount. The general consensus you will find out there these days is to go back the stock 4 carb set up. You can modify the stockers for more better performance. I live in Phoenix and I am running ...

Re: How do I install seatbelts in front?

Thanks for the knowledge Dave. I installed my own rear seatbelts but my car had fronts and I've never had the carpet out. Front belts were mandated by 66, right?

Re: Engine Shrouds - Necessary Evil or Blessing?

Relative to this thread: are 110 and 140 lower shrouds different? I have some 110 lower shrouds but non on my 140 engine? Curious cause I may put the 110 lower shrouds on this winter (dec 15 to jan 30 suckas, ave hi temp 70) if they are compatible with the 140 i'm running.

Re: How do I install seatbelts in front?

Kent, have you removed the carpet? If I'm not mistaken you should see some factory indentations on the floor area. You may have to drill it out etc. Maybe call Clark's Corvair and ask one of there tech people. They should be able to set you up with both the knowledge and the belts if you need them.

Re: Newbie Question

Find your corvair mechanic before you purchase and have them look over the mechanicals. Expect poor trouble shooting from anybody without specific corvair experience. Not to scare you off we love our Vairs but they are unique and need attention to detail. Good luck with the search and post pics when...

Re: Engine Shrouds - Necessary Evil or Blessing?

Agree with flat6 no lower shrouds in the summer. I would get some when you find some though. I say this because it can get cold in Texas in the winter. It would be of benefit in the winter to have lower shrouds. The upper tin and perimeter seal for sure get those in stalled.

Re: What Else To Do When Installing Clutch?

Throw out bearing, transmission shaft seal (and remember to use the thick split washer), new pilot bushing. Make sure you have a good surface on flywheel and pressure plate. All easy and inexpensive to do when power pak is removed and apart. Gives great piece of mind to know that all that is new in ...

Re: Finally on it's way!

I'm with flat6, in this market maybe he got a slightly better deal, but if its as good mechanically as you think you in no way got taken to the cleaners. It's the mech's that get expensive. If you don't mind getting dirty redo the body work and its still a driver in the meantime! If you would have t...

Re: Corvair Engine Questions

Torquer, efi has been done plenty on vairs. Maybe think Fiero system. Do a search on it you will find some good stuff to move you that way if you desire. Or like you said it can be done with the the four runner setup like I have (carburated mind you). I have a 500cfm two barrel dialed in now and it ...

Re: What other cool cars/bikes do you have/have you had?

Thanks. Love all suburbans (and pickups 64-72). Highly recommend. More than one of these have been bagged. Mine had rebuilt front end, new springs, and shocks all around. Best feature: custom 42 gallon gas tank. Close to 600 miles on a tank. It hurt when gas was over $4 a gallon but nice non the less.

Re: 4 Speed Transmission Issues

First off I a big fan of Clarks and have ordered from them 4-5 times and am very happy with them. On the shift rod tube issue I feel there is a better way to go and cheaper and easier and no mods needed to be made to stock tube etc. 3/4" copper pipe from home depot. Cut 1/4" long each end ...
