What Else To Do When Installing Clutch?

Post by kenshapiro2002 »

So, when I have the whole drivetrain out, what else should I do that can't be done otherwise? I'm thinking crossmember bushings (which are shot on my car) and transmission mounts. What else?

Crank seal on the flywheel end! And maybe the bellhousing-to-block gasket?

Heater blower motor is also alot easier to get to with the drivetrain out.

I already replaced the u joints. Certainly didn't need the drive train out for that. I did not do the stub yoke seals. Guess I should have?

Removed it and worked on it many months ago. Yeah...it wasn't easy with the drivetrain in. Thanks.

Throw out bearing, transmission shaft seal (and remember to use the thick split washer), new pilot bushing. Make sure you have a good surface on flywheel and pressure plate. All easy and inexpensive to do when power pak is removed and apart. Gives great piece of mind to know that all that is new in there after reinstalling. Make double sure the shift rod fork is on completely and tied up to the transmission to it doesn't fall off when reinstalling. Only way to fix it if this happens is remove the whole drivetrain again and pull apart. Don't ask how I know. Good luck :tu:
