Awesome, looking great!
I'm trying to work over the winters and drive over the summers (in Michigan) - Hope to burn fuel again in the next 30 days...
I need the summers to keep me going through the winter!
Good luck with your project!

Re: Under coating???
Like Ted and others said, you can strip the undercoat with a heat gun and putty knife... I used the 3M 'rattle can' stuff you can get locally... x2 on moving that fuel pump, it is gonna get snagged there! Only other comment - you should move that jack-stand to the frame inboard of the rocker hem-fla...

Re: new to forum and to corvair
Oddly enough, both the transmissions before '66 and the '66 and beyond are both "Saginaw" Transmissions... Yours is an early version. The later one is commonly referred to as the "Saginaw". I can't tell for sure, but it looks like an early (63 or before?) rear suspension. If it h...

Re: Cleaning wheel wells
Bill - the wheel wells are undercoated from the factory. I used a heat gun and putty knife to clean mine up- then wire brushed, treated surface rust, seam sealed, painted and finally undercoated... So far have only done fronts. You cans see the blow-by-blow starting here --> http://www.corvairforum....

Re: 66 vert, lots of questions
To add to Craig's post - about your lights... First, front "running lights' turn off with headlights on... There is a wiring modification you can do to change this if you wish... Secondly, there are two crescent-shaped connectors under the IP that lead to the turn signal switch... Checking with...

Looking good! It looks like a clean vehicle...
About the fuel pump - make sure it does not hang lower than the front cross member - don't want it to snag on anything...

Craig, welcome here (back?) - I've spent a number of hours reading you words of wisdom over at CC... I like this place better as you can post more file types and the photos don't go away, but you cannot beat the years of posting over there...
Enjoy...

Re: My seatbelt install
I like it. I've been struggling with how to do 3-point belts without violating the openness of the pillar-less late coupe design... I then saw the shoulder belt system and presenter on the new Buick Cascada! The retractor is in a similar position as this - with a cool motorized presenter. I could no...

Re: Issues with my '66 corvair
When I first drove my 66 Corsa, I noticed the system voltage across the battery at ~17 volts, and a ~12 amp charge... volt_amp_sm.JPG As I attempted to diagnose, I learned the Voltage regulator is mounted to the front of the engine bay with rubber insulators. Clark's stocks replacements. In studying...

I really miss seeing the 20 ish items on a single "Portal" page vs. the 5 we get now...
Always has been a quick scan of the latest...
Otherwise, seems to be much snappier!

BTW - I know "Caveman" Pete - see this listing http://corvaircenter.com/phorum/read.php?1,849990 I believe him to be a truthful player, selling of a number of his '60 'caveman' cars... I've seen this live, but did not inspect it like a potential purchase... More shots ~1/2 the way down on ...

Mechanicville NY - I used to by my British Land Rover parts from a place in that town. I had a 72, 88" - back in collage, over 30 years ago... I used "searchtempest.com" and put a zip code around Tuscon, AZ and a 400-500 mile radius to locate my car in Yuma AZ. Once located (could not...

Can someone tell me why Clarks suggest on replacing the steel tie rod sleeve, mine looks good just need to be cleaned. ... ran into an issue of getting the tie rod ends out of the sleeves so I can replace them. Any one have idea to get them to break lose, already soaked them in PB blast. Now I thin...
