I had a similar issue with my 65 - the Sprag in the Torque Converter went bad and the converter needed replacement.

Re: 1963 engine ticking
Hey Garth, I'm having the same issue with my 64 and I should be getting to the repair in the next few weeks. From what I've read, it can eventually break the starter nose and/or worse if its continually driven. Also since the flywheel is out of balance, it can be hard on the main bearings, which is ...

Just throwing this out there - you may want to contact Chris @ Shade's Classic Corner in Nebraska - https://www.shadesclassiccars.com/ Chris is a great guy and has a real passion for Corvairs. He is updating his website but has a few cars listed on classicars.com in the meantime. He doesn't seem to ...

Re: Does anyone know this 63??
Thanks Brad, I've reached out to the local PA chapter and hopefully will get some additional info. On another note I received a picture of the body tag and the engine number and from what I gather, the car is a legitimate spyder but the engine has me stumped - '65 110 / PG?? https://photos.app.goo ...

Does anyone know this 63??
I just sold my 65 Monza Conv. and in its replacement, I've been eyeing an EM Conv. Spyder. I came across this one on Hemmings and it is close enough for me to go inspect the car before purchase, however, I was just wondering if anyone in the area/Corvair world knows of the car. I know it's a ...

Yes I just spoke with him and he is open - https://www.corvair1.com/Scott H wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 1:05 pm I saw that too. That’s a bummer.
If you need parts in that time try Raffee Corvair. I just got some parts from him today.

Re: Rebuilt engine, PG and Diff installed
So an update... I havent started the car since last weekend but this morning I decided to take it for a drive to work and a few observations: Started fine, was parked downhill facing forward, put in D and drove as it should. Forgot something so had to go back to my house so I stopped put in reverse ...

Re: Rebuilt engine, PG and Diff installed
I have a 140 in a Lakewood with a 64 Powerglide and diff. I get the same thing as you described in reverse. If I let the engine idle and put it in reverse it is OK if I give it power it has a jerky feel. I took it to a transmission specialist and he said it was not the transmission. He thought ...

Re: Rebuilt engine, PG and Diff installed
Yes vacuum lines all connected correctly, only leak is from the converter seal that is dripping through the bell housing weep hole. It's not a lot and I make sure to check the fluid often64powerglide wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 4:37 pm Are your vacuum lines all hooked up properly? No leaks??

Rebuilt engine, PG and Diff installed
So as the title says I just finished installing a rebuilt 110 (Rafee), rebuilt PG with high stall rebuilt converter (Clarks), and rebuild diff (Corvair Ranch). Everything went together as planned, the car is running well and I am happy (minus leak from converter seal  ). I do have a slight ...

Re: Body and Engine harness question
I am curious about your tach signal safety switch idea. Is the tach signal going to activate a relay to do this? This is the one I am installing - http://www.revolutionelectronics.com/Fuel_Pump.html There are a few other types out there (inertia switch, oil pressure)but this one made the most sense ...

Re: Body and Engine harness question
Gentlemen thank you for your replies. Brad, as always, lots of detailed information and I appreciate it every time. After looking everything over I decided to just replace the harnesses with the original ones instead of that from a Corsa. I think in the big picture, like Steve stated, it's probably ...
