Part of the Solution , Not part of The Problem

Post by hrm2k »

It's great to see the board back up and running smoothly again. We really need to show our support of Scott for all he does for not only this board but Corvairs in general. Scott just spent a few weeks trying to solve a major software glitch. He spent money ( him and his family's money ) on new servers and new software not to mention his time so we have this neat place to hang out, to learn from each other and document our work on whatever we see a Corvair to be.
Scott has never asked for a penney from any of us. Scott has never asked us to buy anything. All this time and all this money comes from his pocket. I don't know about all of you, but I think we need to at least step up to the plate to help in anyway we can.
A few months back, I did one of these kind of posts. Only about 5 or 6 people responded by posting and making a donation to the cause. Everyone else just passed it by. BOY !!!!! DID THAT EVER PISS ME OFF !!!!!!!! Then the board went down for several weeks.

No one asked for a big donation. The price of one can of soda a week can make a big difference. A dollar a week can help this board be here when you need it. I'm retired on a fixed income. $50 is not chump change to me but it will help Scott to continue keeping the board open and operating without taking his family's money to keep the board open.

On the front page of this board is a small button that is marked DONATE. Scott didnt put it there to beg for money. He put it there because we demanded a way to help support the board.

HIT THE BUTTON AND MAKE A DONATION !!!!!!!
Even if it is only $5 or $10, it all keeps the board open. Do not sit back thinking " I dont need to donate ".

BE A PART OF THE SOLUTION< NOT A PART OF THE PROBLEM

:goodpost:

I belong to and participate in a few automotive forums related to vehicles I own.
None of the forums I frequent require donations, some won't accept any at all.
As a way to show my appreciation and support. I have made non-monetary contributions by participating and offering suggestions and advice as I am able. I have also made financial donations to the ones that will accept them and am happy to do it.

In the 45+ years I have been associated with Corvair's and their owner's, I have learned that many will not donate a dollar to any cause even if their donation would be the difference between continued operation or shutting down. :banghead:

The minority of Corvair enthusiasts however, have a generous nature and will open their wallets for a good cause. To those people I applaud your generosity. :tu:

To the tight-fisted penny pinching scrooge's out there, shame on you for thinking of nothing but yourselves. :td:

I believe I donated the last time you posted a message - but I can't really remember if that's accurate or if I'm just hallucinating. In any case I just donated $100 more. I have a lot of money tied up in my '65 Corsa and it would not even be running today without the help and advice I've received from the members on this forum (and the CorvairCenter forum). Some of the information here - you can't find in a shop manual. It comes from people who have many years of experience working on our cars. If you're serious about your car - support the forum !!!

The ads help allot. They do pay the majority of the costs associated with running the site.

This year we had to upgrade servers and it surpassed what the ads bring in. That is fine with me. I still won’t ask for any donations.

This isn’t a money making venture. It’s a way of helping owners and preserving the Corvair. That’s all.

I love these cars and the people involved are some of the best people you’ll ever meet. (Not all of them, but most lol). I’ve made some great friends through the Corvair community.

I do appreciate the support and it is very humbling.

Support the site, or don’t. It will still be here.

Howdy

Here is how you get to the Donate button.

Click on Home in the 'toolbar'.

Then click on Portal not Sections.

It will give you a view with 'boxes'.

In left sidebar below Menu there is a donate box.

In the box is a YELLOW button that says Donate on it.Button is pill shaped.Capsule shaped.

Click on it and then something happens.

Have not donated yet but found the Donate button. It's a start.
