Ok the pockets on the rampside are the same dimensions as any Ford ranger box hole except the ramp seemed to be tapered. So the plastic cap just snaps in . Nice and clean.

I believe that the pockets are tapered.you can get a pocket plastic plug like I have on DOROTHY kind of hard to see but look close.Corvair Forum mobile app

In my humble opinion, I would check the hinge alignment on the bottom of the ramp. Or take a look at the hinge Aliment on the box,I checked DOROTHY'S RAMP and yes their is a tightness at the bottom of the ramp not enough to remove the paint but these trucks are 60 years old could be metal stress ...
