Re: Broke the Engine Cover!

Yes, the baffle was screwed to the top. I suppose that is not normal?

Re: Broke the Engine Cover!

Nope, I didn't apply heat. Figured since I had a press it would slide right in! Wrong! By the way, I am in Atlanta. I think I will need a late cover for this bearing to fit. Don't think the 64 will work?! I'm not sure.

Broke the Engine Cover!

Ok, I got the new bearing from Clarks and the shaft on it was longer on than the one on the original bearing. I figured this was not an issue as the excess shaft would be recessed in the engine cover and there didn't seem to be a shoulder or lip to stop the shaft from going through. Here is the ...

Re: Introduction, Atlanta Owners?

Thanks tt...I had seen you on Facebook before and was a follower already! I am making plans to come to the gathering in Helen. I called Gary and he seems really nice. My problem is that I am between jobs and have more time than money. You need some help around the shop? I'm really good with a broom!

Took off the engine shroud to get to the blower bearing and I think I have figured out why my heater didn't work! Anyone ever heard of Tophat Beer?!?

Introduction, Atlanta Owners?

Hello all...I am Byron in Atlanta; Fayetteville actually, just south of Atlanta. Here are some pics of my 63 Convertible. I bought it last fall with an old purple color change that had seen better days. I decided to take it back to the original red. Got it out of the paint shop in November. Did the ...

Re: Strange engine noise

Thanks all...removed the belt and noise went away. Pretty sure it's the blower bearing!

Strange engine noise

Here is a video of the strange noise my engine started making today. It goes away with higher RPM's. It sounds like the wind blowing across a bottle or jug. It is worse at low RPS's. My first thought was a vacuum hose had come loose but could not find one. Then I thought maybe leaking around the ...

Re: Crown Mid-Engine FS on Atlanta CL

I dunno how they're cooling it. Looks like an incomplete project. May be worth a look for someone who had the time!

Re: New Corvair

Hey John....I live south of the city. I just bought a 63 convertible but had a 65 and a 66 in the past. My car is in the body shop now being painted. Let me know if you ever need anything.

Re: Installing rear seat belts in an EM

Nick...My wife said the same thing! No kids until seat belts are installed! My other car is a 911 Turbo and I go to track a lot. I bought the Corvair in hopes that it will prove more "family friendly"!

Wow! Air conditioning! Too bad there is no sign of any AC now! Thanks guys for the replies. My former cars were a 65 Monza Convertible and a 66 Turbo Corsa (sans turbo!).

My "New" 63 Convertible

Hello all....After a 20 year hiatus, I am back in the Corvair fold. I recently purchased a 63 Convertible that was in pretty sad shape. The car has been painted a maroon color but was originally Ember red. I am considering taking it back to red and have ordered a ton of parts from Clarks. Two things ...
