To answer your question, the XR-700 with the 0226 suffix is the only one that will work with the GM 6 cylinder. I have called Fasts help line and ordered the correct bracket for a kit I bought used.
I like them because I have been using them for almost 30 years with zero failures.
Try Ebay, they ...

Re: Got a Set of Clark’s Ultimate Exhaust, now what?
Install the headers on engine with new donuts on the exhaust tubes. Tighten nuts on stud until you
have the fit you want between the muffler and body. Then experiment with spacers you have available on the flange to maintain the header to body gap when tight. You mat not need anything. But you may ...

Re: Got a Set of Clark’s Ultimate Exhaust, now what?
I have used the old/ original design many times in the past. I used 1/4-20 nuts as a wedge to balance the pressure placed on the donuts during tightening.
And to level the headers relative to the engine so they fit well and looked good in back. Don't remember having a problem during use. But setup ...

Don,
I have a good, functional set up that includes everything except the top frame.
PM me with your location to see if shipping would be reasonable.

Re: Roof swap?
Changing the roof panel on a Corvair is easier than most because of how slim the pillars are. Do reinforce the pillars as bmwtodd suggested. Leave the car on its wheels on level work area. And reinforce the weld slip area with plates made from pillar scrap. That way the weld will be stronger. Never ...

Thank you Brad.
Chilton's doesn't cover that.
I guess it's time for a chassis manual.

Late model pressure plate differences
I had a standard and heavy duty pressure plate side by side today for a comparison.
My question is: With the exception of the contact ring weights on the heavy duty plate,
are there other differences such as static spring pressure or metal thickness between the two?

Re: Clarks fender repair parts
Billyboy, In my opinion a proper steel section can be installed in less time than it would take to do a glass repair.
If you are not a member of the club nearest you, contact Davemoto here on this site.
He probably has the section you need. And could put you with someone to do the work. Good luck.

Re: Disconnect powerglide cable behind dash
Hey Bogey,
Looking down from above the C-clip is located 3/4 inch behind where the shift handle
goes thru the dash panel. It may be helpful to remove the nuts that hold the shift mechanism
to the dash. This will allow you to turn the shifter a little for a better view. I hope this helps.

Re: Disconnect powerglide cable behind dash
Bogey,
To remove the nut on the cable housing I used needle nosed fliers on the nut from the top and a small
vise grips on the back of the housing. The C-clip is on the end of the cable located just out of view
at the top of your picture. Access from the radio side of the dash. It is very small. I ...

Re: Disconnect powerglide cable behind dash
Hey Bogey,
Having just done this it is fresh in my mind. You didn't specify EM or LM, so I will assume LM
because I think it is more difficult. The cable it self is held in by a C-clip on the end and a nut on the cable housing.
I find access from the top works best for me. The way I get it is to ...
