I'm always on the look-out for rare Corvair media . Recently there were about ten 16 mm films about the Corvair Vs the Falcon and
various skid pad and rollover tests on Ebay.
These were produced by Ford and were used in Court during the Corvair Safety Hearings brought about Nader , these were the hearings
where the Vair was officially declared SAFE . More rare than Hen's Teeth !
They all had a starting price of 100 bucks for 4 -7 minutes of film .
My first bid of 225. was sniped in the final second . I was bummed but that's how it goes sometimes
The rest of the auctions were 2 days later and I decided to up my bids - I really wanted those films !
So with a winning bid of over 400 bucks I won the next one - It's the Falcon/Vair handling test . This is the one according to testimony where the drivers were
intentionally making the Corvair go off course with rapid over-steering to make the falcon look good.
At this point the bid prices were increasing in leaps and bounds .
The next one that I won was 430 bucks - it is titled Corvair roll B
My final film was a whopping 545 $
- it is the Corvair Skid Pad Test.In the end I missed about six films because it was getting way to expensive for my Corvair blood !
I will still have to send them off to be converted to digital (Mo Money) before I can share them .
