Re: 140 Rebuild

Congratulations and thanks. I am nearly finished with a 140 that has taken me way too long, almost a year now on and off. How long did this take? Beautiful. Great pics. Great low mile core. They are still out there. You should be proud. Do you do the sofa blasting in that bench top blast cabinet ...

Re: New guy looking at a 65 Corsa

I no longer mess with rusty east coast cars. Look on CL in Arizona and California....the shipping would likely be around $1000, but you will save in the long run. That car, with rust in the door pillars, could be a mess underneat that shiny paint.

Re: Low speed stumble

Cold idle is when the choke is on...engine warms up, choke enrichment goes away...low idle and stall. Try setting idle speed when engine is fully warmed up and choke is off. Check dwell, timing, everything else people said, but don't forget that you have a a coil choke on that YH carb. Second thing ...

Re: Nobody has 1967 Corvairs?

I would suggest getting a shop manual and Bob Helt's books to start with. There are thousands of 67 Corvairs...not all that different from all 65-69 Corvairs...just trim and a few safety mods...interior changes. Engines and suspension all the same in the late models. Not sure what you mean by ...

Is it as straight and rust free as it looks in pics? A friend of mine thought about shipping this one back East. Have fun.

Re: 1964 Corvair Conv ISO Restorer

I have a friend who is having his late convertible restored by the Corvair Ranch in Gettysburg, PA. Pics of the body work look great so far. They have a web site you can google. About an hour from DC.

Re: SOS FROM ITALY: GRINDING THE CRANK SHAFT

OK, you almost list the STD sizes for both journals: 2.0983 to 2.0993 for the main (I think you mis-typed them) and 1.799 to 1.800 for the rods as you say. Yes, that means you would be able to go to: Main with .030 undersize = 2.0683 to 2.0693 Rod with .030 undersize = 1.769 to 1.770 Will let you ...

215s probably OK in back but will likely rub the front. I would want to hear from someone who has run 215s in front.

PM me if you want to sell the 15s.

Re: CORVAIR UNDERGROUND

Ordered from Lon last week, got my parts this week. This is a recurrent pattern in my dealings with Lon Wall...I pay for parts and he sends them to me. This sort of thing has been happening to me for many years now. I know many others have noticed that this has happened to them as well...and to my ...
