Two Tone Sedan on the way
Two Tone Sedan on the way
The male half of this household has gone out foraging to slay a new project and bring it home. Can't wait to see it and get started on it.

SAFETY COMMENT — Don't use cinder blocks in place of jack stands. They can convert from a block to powder with no warning. Had a guy in the military killed that way years ago near Ramstein AB in Germany. He was using cinder blocks while working under a car. They discovered his body crushed under the car after the cinder block disintegrated.

Re: Two Tone Sedan on the way
Thank you for the safety warning.
The previous owner has had it on blocks for 9 years in an effort to keep the weight off the suspension. It is now safely and securely on a tandem trailer....somewhere in Oklahoma. I'll have a good set of jack stands waiting for it when it gets home. ;)

Is it as straight and rust free as it looks in pics? A friend of mine thought about shipping this one back East. Have fun.

I do prefer the wire wheel covers though — over the 13" EM wheel covers — and hope you can include the wire wheel covers in your restoration. Here is a good article on how to clean them up...

Re: Two Tone Sedan on the way
Thanks for the restoration article. I do plan to keep the wire covers on it. The car had a good bath today, and the first layer of dirt off the interior, and pulled the carpet. There will be a lot of interior replacement needed. This one will be a lot of work but I think we're up to the challenge. We'll be needing a good 140 engine and of course, the dreaded pillars. Thank you for the encouragement. I may need a lot more of that down the road. Some more pics for those who asked...

Re: Two Tone Sedan on the way
Connie, I don't believe I've ever seen a Corvair interior that is silver-gray. That is nice!
Which engine is in it now? The 95hp would be very desirable IMO.
Unless there is a 140 PG in it now, I think you'll need to change the transmission to the correct 140 parts.

While I generally don't like the look/styling of LM's I do love LM sedans, probably the best looking of the LM's IMHO. Cool car!!
