*Additional* oil cooler
The type where you have a puck that goes sandwiched between the oil filter, is what I want to add to my 67. Is something available? I want additional oil cooling beyond what I get with the stock setup, and I do not want to disturb the stock 8 row cooler.

When he gets tooled up, Reagan Metcaf said that he will manufacture a new run. I'm guessing it's early next year.

That is what I was thinking. Unless you are going racing, or live in a high temperature climate with A/C on the car the 8 plate cooler should be fine.
I've owned a Mazda Rotory that has a huge oil cooler, but it had a thermostat for the oil flow to the cooler. There is such a thing as oil that is not up to operating temperature causing issues. My 90 Vette had an oil thermal exhanger with the engine coolant. It helped warm up the oil in cold environments and cooled the oil during hot runs in the summer. Clever. It helped keep the oil in a good operating temperature range.

The folded fin Cooler would fit where the 8 plate was and give a bump in cooling as well.

That is the claim over the years. Only draw back is you have to make sure the external fins do not get plugged with debris, especially if it gets oil the exterior.
Some add "end plates" on the twelve plate cooler, I think you can also do this with the 8 plate to improve cooling.

Yea, keeping it clean is a factor but the way most of the cars are used these days it is not hard to do. If you do allot of gravel roads it might not be the best option.
I swapped from an 8 plate with side plates to a folded fin when I had my car apart last year. It has 5000 miles on it now and the cooler is a clean as when I put it in. I wish I had a way to compare oil temps but all I have is a head temp gauge. The engine runs cool even in 100+ heat hear in NC but it did before with the old cooler. I switched because the 62 would have had it anyway and I would like to add AC soon.

By far, the best "oil cooling mod" is to make the fan cool better. Those Airflow pulleys and bellmouths work pretty darned slick on the mag fan. This stuff isnt only for a Nashfan. I've found that the folded fin oil cooler becomes self cleaning when the fan pressure is raised a lot. The dust problem is caused when the damper doors are closed, at least with the stock fan. One of the neat things about that folded fin is that it is much more restrictive to flow so more air goes to the heads for the same amount of heat rejection. One can do a heck of a lot better by plugging the known leaks- the gaps in the corner shrouds, the gaps between the bottom of the cylinder baffles and block, the huge hole were the dipstick goes under the cylinder baffles, and the 2 elongated slots in the baffles. These, individually dont amount to a hill of beans but added together end up being 5.3 TIMES the leak area thats known to cause overheating on certain aircooled aircraft... and those are bigger engines than ours!!

As for the oil cooling discussion for the car mentioned, it is for a NON-turbo charged engine. With a turbo charged engine, cooling during boost is far more demanding!!!!!!

Wouldn't there be an issue with belt install with the adapter Seth posted. How would you get around that?

Most leave an extra belt already captured so if the loose one you can just put the next one on. It would be a pain.

SpyderMan and Nashfan have described the cooling system I am using on my turbo engine.
Folded fin cooler + airflow pulley + bellmouth with mag fan. Engine head temps stay cool (no oil temp gauge) even during hot/humid days pushing the wastegate open. I have to admit that water-methanol injection is also helping me keep it cool.
I did make one improvement when i discovered an air leak... The top shroud was leaking air under the oil cooler cover plate. It was easy to detect under the alternator where cooler cover plate is installed on the running engine. There was a substantial air blast (leak) there.

The seal was made from a turbo inlet pipe collar. Cut to length and inserted under the shroud, held in place by cover plate screws.

Have you answered Frank's question of how hot is your oil? You want to add a bigger cooler but it still hasn't been determined that one is needed.
