I had a failure exactly like this on my stock 1966 110hp Monza (at maybe 40,00 miles)-- many years ago. I think cylinder #5. Don't know why, probably just inferior part.

Re: 4 Speed shifting problems
In rebuilding the entire shifter assembly (coupler, bushings, etc) on a 1966 LM 4 speed one of the last steps is to clamp the shifter shaft (rod) to the coupler shaft. It’s clear of course that the relative axial position be correct so there is no axial interference (shifter shaft to shifter tube ...

Re: Rocker failure...
I had one fail just like that on my 1966 Monza -- in 1970, with ~40,000 miles.

Re: 1965 4-Speed Detent Spring
The problem in extracting the transmission oil in my 1966 4 speed (no drain plugs) is I can't get the suction tube (put into the fill hole) at all deep into the case even tho I've tried a small diameter (1/4") tube. Any suggestions?

Re: 140 head removal help
I understand that the head can be removed with the engine in the car. So do I need to remove BOTH the long AND SHORT carb studs to do so (on my 140 HP)?

Re: How to drain 4-speed transmission?
I had the same problem trying to drain (suction with 1/2" tube) the oil from my 66 Corsa 4 speed transmission.
Just to clarify, on the LMs the (4 spd) transmission and differential share oil -- and both have fill plugs but no drain plugs. Correct?
