Welcome John. That doesn't look so bad, I think you can do it. Be sure to check for rust under those covers under the doors, they're notorious for that. Lots of help available here. You might also consider finding a Corvair club for local support.

Great info guys. I've been thinking about that myself because when I had mine apart I disassembled, cleaned, and repacked the bearings on my 61 and have been thinking about whether that was good enough.

Does any of this NOT sound like what is happening to the United States? Scairy stuff going on here. On S.S. I hope to get it one day (i'm 56 now) but I'm not counting on it already.
