some cool rims

Post by Akinon93 »

so my dad's had these rims for years now...they're older than I am at least (and I'm 20 now!). Really cool, and they seem to fit my 'vair. It's just a bit sketchy on the rear as they seem to contact part of the suspension because of how wide they are :( but oh well, come spring time I might be checking it out and seeing if I can get them to fit!

Look like Pontiac 15". If you MUST run them, they make spacers in several thickness. But the fenders will be subject to rubbing on turns. Be sure . Be safe. Thanks for reading

ah yeah I hadn't thought about them rubbing on the fenders, I'll have to look again to see how much room I have between the wheel and fender next time I have the 'vair in the air.

The following will help you to determine what wheels and tires will fit a Corvair. You must consider offset, backspacing, width and diameter of the wheels, and the overall tire diameter, tread width, an aspect ratio of the tires to be used with those wheels. These articles will help you to calculate those dimensions for a proper and safe fit.

Pontiac Snowflake wheels. Should be 15x7, not sure on the backspace. As long as the backspace is good, should be no problem. I'm running a 16x7 wheel/tire.

Most likely they are close to zero offset and should work just fine. Test fit and see. :tu:

You will need at least 4" of backspace on a 7" wide rim, and 4 1/2" is much better for steering feel and clearance.
