Valve Seat Staking Tool (and head surfacing tool)

Post by Wittsend »

I know most aren't big on staking valve seats but it did seem interesting as to its origin. I was wondering if it is a "Chevrolet" tool, an aftermarket tool, or a homemade tool??? I'll post a picture as the link will probably die off at some point.

The valve seat staking tool is totally aftermarket, that particular one looks like the style Clark's used to sell. GM did stake the seats but they had a full circle tool. I have pictures showing the original lines from GM.
As far as one of us using the tool shown. That is a BIG NO!
Attached is a pic of the GM staking.

The head surfacing tool I have used one like that for many years even on my race engines until I got my Bridgeport set up to cut heads.

On the preview it shows 2 pics of the same thing, I only posted 1 link.
