Question about running a turbo motor without exhaust..

Post by pvholgado »

out of car.
Is there an issue with runninig a turbo motor with the YH and turbo mounted without any exhaust piping ? I want to run my "extra" motor to video it running for a prospective buyer. I can't think of any issues but I wanted the forums opinion. thanks in advance.

If you mean no crossover and up pipe, I doubt there will be much air flow through the YH. Better to use 2 known good carbs to start it and run demo for video. Just my :my02:

???

Except for the Corvair, all other YH applications I can think of are non-aspirated. Blue Flame Six, Marine, etc.

When the turbo is locked up the YH runs the car fine. Reduced power, yes.

Not like you can demonstrate boost sitting on the floor! :dogrun: :dogrun: :dogrun: :dogrun:

You can run the engine with open manifolds if you want, The engine will run, sluggish but it will run. If you have the crossover and the up pipe hooked up just keep your fingers out of the turbine!
