1964 rear brake drum ?

Post by 62_Droptop »

Looking for information about putting a 64
Finned rear brake drum on my 62 Spyder.
Not for sure it it us compatible with my brake backing plate. So any input would be helpful

that they have been fooled!

As I understand it, the backing plate for the '64 is different than other years and you would need to have them for the brake drums to work properly. I don't absolutely know this for a fact since most of my experience excludes the 1964 cars.
My "Experience" is only from recalling prior discussions on the topic.

If you had a 64 rear drum, which is a RARE beast, in your hand you will see the lip of the drum is different than your 62 where it fits to the backing plate. The 64 has a more water slinging lip. :tu:

Looks like CA Corvair has both good used finned drums and backing plates.
