Looking for information about putting a 64
Finned rear brake drum on my 62 Spyder.
Not for sure it it us compatible with my brake backing plate. So any input would be helpful

Re: 1964 rear brake drum ?
As I understand it, the backing plate for the '64 is different than other years and you would need to have them for the brake drums to work properly. I don't absolutely know this for a fact since most of my experience excludes the 1964 cars.
My "Experience" is only from recalling prior discussions on the topic.

If you had a 64 rear drum, which is a RARE beast, in your hand you will see the lip of the drum is different than your 62 where it fits to the backing plate. The 64 has a more water slinging lip.

Looks like CA Corvair has both good used finned drums and backing plates.
