Trunk Weatherstrip Seam Location

Post by VairsRule »

It's been a long time since I removed the old trunk weatherstrip. I have a new one to install. IIRC, the seam (where the two ends meet) goes in the front/center where the trunk latch is. Is that right? Thanks

I have attached a section of 1966 Fisher Body Service Manual that addresses the FRONT COMPARTMENT — CORVAIR. Instructions for replacement of the weatherstrip begin on page 5.

Having the proper reference materials – including the factory shop manual – is important. You can download all of these references at no cost onto your computer in Adobe Reader format from the links below. You can then read through the procedures and print the appropriate pages that you will need to refer to as you go through the procedure on your Corvair. Of course, you can also purchase hard copies of the shop manual from Clark's Corvair Parts or other sources. I hope you will find some useful references at these websites to add to your personal technical library.

At 37.4 MB, the file size of the complete manual is too large to be handled by the Corvair Forum website operating system. The complete 1966 Fisher Body Service Manual can be found and downloaded using the following link...

I have all the shop manuals that I converted to PDFs from the original scans, but did not have the 1966 Fisher Body Manual. The instructions for replacing trunk weatherstrip are on page 3-14. Here's a direct link to the 1966 Fisher Body Manual: http://1969corvair.com/techpages/techfi ... Manual.pdf
The answer to my question was that they meet in the middle/front. Good tip about marking the center of the strip to position it correctly.
