Dual Exhaust Gt Style
Dual Exhaust Gt Style
Installed 65-66 Mustang GT tailpipe trim rings so I could exit exhaust thru the valance.
Not completely done, still need to add muffler hangers and possibly some chrome exhaust tips or paint the homemade ones black for now. Had to do some body work to reconfigure the outside edge of panel. . Also need to finish up the the body work and repaint.

Dang. That looks awesome! What diameter hole and what did you use for bezels?
Edit: Ok, I see you used 65-66 Mustang bezels. I purchased one a couple of years ago from Drakes(?) It was bigger than the ones you used. I'll have ti dig it out to compare.

I basically had to make template using the bezel as a guide. The holes are roughly 4” x 5” and trim as necessary to fit the bezel. I had to fill outer edge and bottom with sheet metal cut to fit and welded in place. More work than I anticipated but like the result. Exhaust tip is 3 inch. Had to make up some offset tailpipes to get it out the holes. Also glued in mounting stud at top
of bezel as it only comes with three, the way Ford designed it. Some of this idea came from www.autorestomod .com article on their 1967 GT build.

The size of that bezel (4x5) sounds about right. I remember when I took it out of the package it seemed huge.
I'm currently designing a rear exhaust panel that will use dimple die cut holes, approximately 2.5". I plan on using 3" dimple dies for the exhaust. The pic is just for demonstration purposes only to show what a dimple die looks like.

Here is a vairiation on your theme. It was a custom exhaust on an early model Corvair that had been customized to fit a late model rear suspension to the vehicle...

Well this project is mostly done, put some SS exhaust tips on, repainted across the rear panel. I have not decided if I’m going to repaint the air grill silver, kinda like it body color.

Re: Dual Exhaust Gt Style
I think what you did looks good but.....The 1963 through 1967 CHEVROLET Corvette had a similar Bezel that fit the body.
Utilizing the Corvette Bezels would have kept your Chevrolet, all Chevrolet, but that is just my opinion.

Thanks for the comment. Corvette parts are about $60.00 ea. Mustang $16.00 ea. Had to keep costs of mod below $250.00.
