Injection System ?

Post by acarlson »

Those of you who have an injection system installed on their turbo engine, where did you install the nozzle - on the carb intake after the air cleaner and before the throttle body or on the turbo output connection to the crossover tube ?

Mine is in the turbo outlet which is a better place for it than before the turbo.

Wolf, did you put in the actual turbo housing or in the intake pipe?

It is threaded into the turbo outlet.

Nate, what injection components are you using ? It looks like the main suppliers are AEM, Devils Own and Snow's. I like the AEM system because of the controller, but a LOT of people have complained that the system sometimes doesn't shut off and ends up flooding the engine with water and methanol. And AEM has piss poor customer support from what I've read. I'm considering the Snow's Stage 2 kit with the progressive boost controller - but I'm still researching... What's your take on the various systems and companies ?

My system is pieced together. Originally I bought a coolingmist setup but over the years I have upgraded the pump, replaced nozzles and other parts that went bad(solenoid and pressure switch). I have devil's own nozzle, nozzle holder, and solenoid, nason pressure switch, and coolingmist high pressure pump. I think just about all the pumps out there are shurflo units that get rebranded. My system is pretty basic but works well. I have it set to turn on at 7psi.

I am also considering to add a water/methonol injection system and I am interested the comments from this post. I will be running a larger 184 CI engine with a Weber, wastegate, and an Otto-20 Cam. I really appreciate Nate showing how he did his. I am hoping that more people who have actually installed an injection system will share how they did theirs. While it seems relatively straight forward, I am interested and appreciative of any advice the forum has, especially on nozzle placement.

I have had snow performance on my turbo car for almost 10 years. no issues yet with it. Progressive setup but my setup is with fuel injection blow through system. Nozzle is mounted in air hat. I just run windshield washer fluid unless I am racing then I get boost juice from snow performance.
