I need to access my turn signal accuator. How do I remove the telescope tension/lock ring on the steering wheel to be able to pull the wheel? Also, is the button on the tension ring supposed to serve as a horn button? I have a horn but can't figure out where anything is to press. Thanks.

The horn button has 3 clips on the back that clip it into place. You have to carefully pry the horn button out then you will see how to remove the rest.

Thanks. It's so tight I was afraid to try to put a screwdriver in there. I'll try to find a thin plastic pry tool.

I don't believe the spring-steel clips would hold it that tight. Perhaps a clip broke at one time and a previous owner used some type of glue to secure it. Although this theory doesn't solve your problem, it is a possibility you might come across.

Thanks. Got the disk off no prob, and this diagram shows #9 as horn button. I'm guessing that plate should rock to accuate the horns. I'll dissasemble it, now that I have access to it. Thanks for the helpful advice.

Does anyone know where repro parts for a tele column can be found. I looked on the ThePartsPlace and didnt see anything.

Here's a link for 65-66 tele column parts. The same parts are used in the corvette columns. They also have 67 tele column parts

I have a '67. Is the telescoping column not the same as the "energy absorbing" column, which became standard in '67? I need a new turn signal switch, Clarks shows 2 different types for 67's, C863 and C864 (which is what I have).

Telescopic is for adjustability energy absorbing is for crashing.
