ignition switch wiring curiosity

Post by LandShark »

Okay, just looking under dash trying to diagnose the fuel gauge issue I noticed an interesting ...well, I'll let the picture explain (please see image).

What am I looking at? It's clear the green pig tail is connected to purple but currently not anything else. Additionally, all 4 other wires have been opened. Is this a "hot wire" from the past? Possible someone doing some electrical trouble shooting? :dontknow:

Scarily enough, it looks fairly recent?
Any thoughts?

My guess matches yours: Someone needed to start the car without a key.

Yeah, trying to imagine "oh crap lost my keys" now what...."

The extent of my hot-wiring experience is on film where a guy rips two wires from under the dash and touches them together and viola!
Either way, I have some electrical taping to do!
