UK '61 monza

Following on from my intro thread I bought this '61. It was originally black with red interior but has at some point become white with black interior.

It will be needing some welding, rear valance, front valence, both rockers, floors, trunk area is grim and the front firewall has been "repaired" with tape that has been painted over! The engine appears to have been built up from 140 bottom end with 110 heads, but seams to run ok not that I have run it much so far.
The immediate problem is the starter and a flooding carb. Having looked at the starter internals it was well worn but that didn't explain why it was slipping on the ring gear, I fitted a new pinion gear to the starter which came with the car but it was not much better. After a bit of thought I decided the engine had to come out to see what was going on.
It would appear that it has recently had a new clutch and riveted flywheel which is nice! What isn't nice is that the ring gear has been chewed up by the starter and also some of the welds holding the ring gear to the clutch cover have started to fail.

So my shopping list is getting bigger, I might see if I can find or make a ring gear and put it on the existing clutch cover rather than importing a new clutch cover. There is no big rush but it would be useful if I could easily move it about. Now the engine is out I might dress the tin ware up and paint the engine bay, and there is a bit of welding round the back to attend to, and it would be nice to get the rear suspension out and re-bush and paint that. I can see this is starting to snowball!
Any clutch related suggestions are welcome, as are any other thoughts in general.
