Hmmm......Corsa website http://www.corvair.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is down for me as well. Shouldn't be anything related between the two should there?

Websites are down all the time. Whether it's maintenance, malfunction or an attack, unless the owner was negligent he's got backups. Nothing to panic and worry about.

Corvaircenter is down far, far, far, more than any other website I visit including the 9 that my company hosts on our own servers and the 4 club sites that I take care of myself through other hosts. That is why I am worried that corvaircenter data might be lost since it seems the ability to keep it online is not being handled well. Who knows how good the disaster recover planning has been handled (except Royce)? At least the static pages are up this morning so some progress is being made.

I was told last week by a moderator that the CCF server had been upgraded.

The results were it didn't go down due to traffic volume last Sat & Sun.

Who knows what it is this time...lets hope all that info is not lost.

First, I have to say CC does have some very, very knowledgeable people there. For that, I am thankful.

Unfortunately, there are a few who think they know everything, and don't. You will get this on any forum.

OT, doesn't bother me if it's stated OT. I don't have to click on it and open it. If I do, it's my own fault. This is one huge plus for this forum, IMO, is the separate OT section. Don't want to read it, don't. :) I am not into politics at all. All politics are, again, IMO, are grown adult arguing over something that never gets settled. And if it does, someone is pi$$3d off in the end. I stay out of it. :)

My biggest pet peeve on CC are the grump old people who want to bicker over the stupidest things. You have a Corvair hobby, go work on it. Don't sit on the forum all day being grumpy. :) Life is way too short to be pi$$y all the time.

CF is a bit more laid back. Individual sections so you can read about a topic you may want to read about. Not sort thru fuel pump questions and politics until you find something you want to read about.

With all that said. The majority of Corvair people are spectacular and will bend over backwards for one another. A truly remarkable group of people. :)

I have spent a lot of time on both forums. Over on CCF I (and others) have proposed several times that they change the format/software so they can have a separate Off Topic forum. Joe West even offered to donate UltimateBB software for free to CCF. The idea gets snubbed every time.

Now for my rant:
There IS a lot of great senior knowledge over there. There are also some guys who just use CCF as free marketing for their Corvair businesses. There is NOTHING wrong with this as far as I am concerned. BUT, what I have had a problem with is guys over there sending me rude and flaming PM's when they reply to a post, give me advice, then get mad when I don't send them money in return (ie buy parts/services from them). To me this is not in the spirit of good car guys on a car internet forum. While most of those guys are true Corvair enthusiasts, some are more interested in getting $$$ out of the members there than just helping people. They don't realize that if they pay it forward it will come back to them 100 fold.

There are a couple well known Corvair guys in the USA that, while very knowledgable and respected by many of you, will never see a dime of my money because of their silly behavior on CCF.

End of rant.!!! :-)

Yes, CC does look a bit mismanaged. Hasn't been updated in awhile. I see what you guys are saying. A lot of valuable info in the archives. That's why I save as much as I can on my HD.
I use CC for quick answers as the sheer volume of people logged in at any time of the day is astounding.

I prefer sub-section format although I feel that there a few too many here. Still, I'd rather take that as it is much easier to search. Wish this forum was a tad busier but at least it's alive.

Politics I ignore, here and there. Instead of wasting my time I'd rather learn about Corvairs. :)

Nice. Speak about being stabbed in the back, I'm one of the old farts that regularly posts on the CorvairCenter Forum. I happen to prefer the CorvairCenter, but then, as described by a couple folks here, I'm one of the 'know-it-all-jerks' that seems to have a chip on his shoulder. After the incident with Tony (OttawaCorvairGuy), I've received my fair share of nasty PMs from a number of folks on the CorvairCenter, but I choose to ignore the ignorant. I guess you can't please everyone. ....And to read this stuff on another Forum, I suppose it's time for me to move on. See you guys.

I couldn't agree more Nick, good deeds do pay off in the long run. I had a business and often did good deeds at no charge which was contrary to what business practices would have preached and I have yet to be burned. I always figured that good people recognized good help and would use my business again or, even better, tell others about me which resulted in new business. I guess I am still one of those guys that think most car guys are decent people instead of the other way around. my :02: anyway.

You've got it right! I am the owner of a small business myself and one of my keys to success has been treating people the way I would want to be treated. It seems like that would/should be obvious...
