cabin fresh air vent early model

Post by jdflight »

Good afternoon

I am looking for a article that I saw on here on how to repair / fix a sticking fresh air vent on an early model. My driver side is sticking and I am trying repair it versus replacing it if possible.

Hi,
I can't help with locating that article, but I recently had the same problem on my 63 in both the passenger and driver sides. I removed the vent and cable and found a couple of problems. One problem was the cable itself has rusted/corroded so the cable wouldn't slide in the coiled sleeve. A bunch of lube took care of that. The other problem i found was that one cable had a slight kink/bend in it near the vent mechanism. It was easy enough to straighten out. Finally, I lubed the vent moving part itself. Reassembled the entire mechanisms and both fresh air vents are working as they should!
