Carpet installation
I'm putting new carpet in my car / I always seem to have a problem cutting out the holes for the seat bolts, seat belt bolts, etc. I end up hacking at the carpet with a xacto knife - and - the result is usually pretty ugly. So - any suggestions on how to measure, cut and fit these holes? I'm sure someone out there has a ingenious solution that I'm not thinking of - thanks - Andy

Re: Carpet installation
I start with a large awl, poke a hole and then carefully enlarge it with a good pair of fiskars original orange handled scissors. I use a utility knife with a fresh blade (or blades) to remove unnecessary backing and to cut large holes (shifter for example).

Re: Carpet installation
Use an awl to start the hole, then use a hot punch to get the hole to the correct size.

Re: Carpet installation
I leave the seat belt bolts in the holes and after I set the carpet, I cut the bolts out.

This is my preferred method as well.recessbilly wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2017 9:21 pm I leave the seat belt bolts in the holes and after I set the carpet, I cut the bolts out.
