Front window regulator
I have a 65 convertible monza. The front driver window is about 3 inches up and the regulator locked up solid. In the body service manual it states to raise the window almost to the top in order to remove it to take the regulator out but, it won't budge any higher. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all my corvair colleagues out there.

Re: Front window regulator
This is a tough one. To get the regulator out, the glass has to be out of the way. Hmmmm!
Start by taking off the arm rest, the inner door handle, the window handle and then remove the door panel slowly, trying not to tear out the clips in the cardboard. The lower part of the panel has some screws. Remove those too.
With the panel off, a good visual inspection is next. Look very carefully at the mechanism as best you can. One of the most common problems is a small roller breaking or otherwise coming apart, which in turn can cause the jamming.
Let us know what you can see.

Re: Front window regulator
I'll second that and add that you pay attention to any screws removed that seem overly long.

Re: Front window regulator
Thanks to all that replied. I didn't have a chance to work on it until the other day. With the help of my son pulling up on the glass and me wiggling the tracks the glass came right out off the he track. I hope I can mount it back on later. Anyway I was able to get the regulator out and boy was it locked up solid at the handle gear. I tried degreasing it oiling it banging on it and it wouldn't budge. So, I grinded the rivets off the small gear cup and when it came loose pieces flew everywhere. I still haven't found the cover. I didn't know that there was a spring inside that gear cup and I believe it was broken unless that is the way it was suppose to be, in two pieces. So, it looks like I will need a new one. Does anyone know where I can find one? I checked Clark's but I didn't see one in their catalog. Again, thank you for your advise!
