That damage almost looked intentional. Hope it repairs OK. Think I'm pissed off about that too!

I drove to a local carpark "show" a couple of weekends ago. First outing for my '65 'Vair ..

Now sure where this guys was going traveling through the Melbourne CBD, but he was doing it in style ..

Re: Today I drove my Corvair to...
As with all my old cars I take the opportunity of good weather to drive them to work when I can (along with my motorbikes). Gotta take advantage of the mild Aussie weather.
Here I am messing up my managers carpark while he is on holidays :)

Apologies for the blurry photo ..

Lucky 7's
Today as is typical of everyday, I drove my Corvair to work. On the way home stuck in traffic, I looked down and noticed my mileage. Luck at me lucky 7's, I should have stopped and bought a lotto ticket.

Re: Today I drove my Corvair to...
I'm getting ready to drive....to......well I'll just say "I'm Driving".
Got the top down in my '65 Corsa 140 Conv. Checked the engine oil and trans axle?, all full. I reset the trip odo as I''m going to check my "oil MPQ (miles per quart). I wish the "real gas" station was open on Sun as I have 3/8 tank, I estimate I have 5 gal, good for > 100 mi. So I'm finishing up my last cup of "strong" coffee, and that doesn't mean liquor !
But I'm gonna get my H-6 running, head out on the hiway, looking for ADVENTURE, like unsuspecting 289's, 273's, I-6's, but not a new ESCORT I-4/350 hp, or if my Dad, Vern Sr. came along with his '69 Ford XL 429 4V 360 hp !
Yep, looking for Add File, should be one off the edit page ? Got it !
I wish you all and your families a great Sunday !

Re: Today I drove my Corvair to...
Another successful 4th of July road trip to my parents house, about 500 miles round trip. No issues, other than I apparently need to repair the wiring to the speedometer light, as it occasionally flickered on, but most of the time didn't work. About 2 hours of night driving on rural roads guessing I was at about 60mph.
Dell Rapids, SD, where my parents live. Not a lot of action on a Sunday morning...

Near Granite Falls, MN, on the way back to Minneapolis.

Re: Today I drove my Corvair to...
Give me credit for trying to drive my Corvair Corsa 140 yesterday, but I didn't get 4 car lengths, and that was only because I coasted down my steep driveway and popped the clutch, to no avail.
I always have it aimed downwards on top my driveway. I hit the gas twice which seems to set the carbs. It usually starts right away but I have to give it enough gas to keep in running then its ok. This time it did not even fire. Its been 10 days since it was started. Tank of Ethanol free 93 octane gas hardly used. I coasted down the drive in first and popped the clutch. Nothing. It ALWAYS starts that way. I then was blocking my cul-de-sac entrance. I got my daughter out and my neighbor to poosh it in neutral to the side. They burned their hands on the black finish in the sun. It wouldn't budge. So I got in and held the clutch in and we moved it. Then I was so flustered in 93 deg heat and dew point at 75 deg that I got into a huge fight with my daughter. She's 35. So I conceded and went into the a/c and thought about it.
When its flooded, I usually can smell gas. I opened the hood and didn't smell any fresh gas. So that's where I'm at. I tried started it again at 0630 at 5 sec cranks several times, same result. I had put a new voltage regulator, coil, and condenser (for RFI) a couple of month s ago. The coil was getting hot stopping while driving and that fixed it.
At worst case I am going to let Hagarty RA tow it one mile to my 'Vair mechanic, which I need to do as the turn signal switch and fan belt need to be replaced as I got them from Clark's. Looking for any suggestions. My mechanic skills are limited to basic stuff. I still have points OEM. Thank you all.

My son-in-law and I checked the battery voltage and it was a little low at 12.2 V. If it can turn the starter over at a reasonable speed there is enough voltage to start it. What's the easiest way to check for spark ? I remember my Dad pulling a spark plug I think and letting it arc while cranking. If that's ok, then the fuel pump may be suspect, albeit a mechanical? one if it's stock ?

Re: Today I drove my Corvair to...
I usually pull one of the spark plug wires off the plug, insert a screwdriver to conduct spark voltage outside the plug boot, and hold the screwdriver metal shaft near a chassis ground point. Cranking the engine should produce a spark that will jump a small gap from the plug wire/screwdriver metal shaft to ground. If you don't get a spark you will need to inspect the points, coil, and the wiring connected to the coil. (Check for battery voltage on the positive terminal with the key on, and good electrical continuity between the negative terminal and the points (that short black wire between the points and the coil can develop internal faults).
If you don't have any voltage at the coil positive terminal with the key on, check the 12 wire multiconnctor below the voltage regulator. It can develop internal electrical continuity problems between the metal contacts due to moisture, vibration, heat and corrosion even if the two plastic halves look to be properly seated. Sometimes just unplugging the two halves and re-seating them will clear the problem.

Thank you Brad ! I'll follow thru at sunrise. 82 deg here in Va right now at 10 PM. Would have been a great ride lowering the top.
