Corvair quit running - I've done all I know to do, need help
Re: Corvair quit running - I've done all I know to do, need
That is exactly what ended up with mine. Too worn to pump enough oil at idle! Plus mine had a bunch of other problems. Good luck with the rebuild!

Bummer about the engine teardown. I am looking forward to seeing what you find.
BTW something similar happened to me but I got 200 miles out of my engine before a previously loose seat came loos again. Check out my build thread if you are interested.

Re: Corvair quit running - I've done all I know to do, need help
1965 was running a month ago while I dickered with the brakes. Finally got new lines installed and the brakes are good without my having to change the wheel cylinders. Whoo hoo! Yesterday I started it to move it out of "my wife's" parking spot and it only ran for a few seconds. Battery was very low, so I charged it for a few hours and it started and ran... for a few seconds. Today, after 16 hours of charging, it won't fire at all, not even with starting fluid. New gas tank and sending unit installed. New fuel pump. Guess I should check the coil (it's "new" but has been new sitting idle for 10 years). Solid state ignition inside distributor.
