:welcome2:  Welcome to the Corvair Forum!

Looking at both of your classic cars, I came to realize that I grew up with both! My parents owned a Plymouth similar to yours back in the late 1950's, and when I was 8 years old they purchased a brand new 1961 Corvair Monza coupe. The Plymouth was a one-of-a-kind in our family, but the Corvair established a new trend that now numbers ten Corvairs over the years.

As a Corvair owner you might find some of the websites listed at the link below to be useful...

Common and Useful Corvair Websites

Corvair Forum :link: viewtopic.php?f=225&t=6007

:dontknow: I would like to encourage you to expand on your initial post and tell us more about yourself, your Corvair, and your goals for your Corvair. If you can describe your personal assessment of your mechanical skills and abilities, that would help a lot. Members of the Corvair Forum love to be helpful in assisting other Corvair owners with technical support and advice, but it helps a lot if we have some understanding of your technical background and mechanical abilities, Corvair-related knowledge, etc. Helping us to know more about you and your Corvair will help us to write comments to you that are tailored to your needs and experience. Pictures are great too, because pictures of your Corvair will help us to visualize where you are with your Corvair and its condition at the present time. Knowing your location is also useful, because knowing where you live can sometimes suggest possibilities to resolve some issues or problems.

Welcome! I like the Vair and the Savoy.
How does the Savoy perform on the highway? How hard is it to get parts for one?

Thanks For the Welcome and the Links! Cad-Kid, the Savoy handles very well one the highway, very smooth because of the chrysler torsion bars, it honestly feels like piloting a boat in both terms of its size and how it just seems to float along the road. I can definitely feel the difference between the suspension driving each. The corvair handle much more agile and jumpy than the Plymouth.

And Ok! Here's a little more about me and my skills. I'm 18 In a tiny Agricultural town in California central vally and I have a fair amount of mechanical skill but am Leaps and bounds from a master mechanic. Most of what I know is from my experience working on the Plymouth which I found sitting in a field for 15 years. I just really learned by doing using assorted manuals and help from a mopar forum. I had to do quite a bit to get her on the road again incuding rebuilding the top end, and going over the entire braking system incuding upgrading it to dual master cylinder. I think my weakest area of knowledge definitely has to be bodywork as I haven't had to deal with it yet.
As far as my plans for the corvair, It's 1962 Monza 900, 2 Carbs. The Owner before the previous owner got in an accident with the car and took the insurance check, salvaging the cars title. The owner I purchased it from bought it and took it to a body shop and had them straighten out the the car and its fenders. Luckily the frame is unharmed but the bumper was trashed (Hence it's missing). But overall a good little car and I really like it. I bought it because I needed something that would get a little better mpg than my Current 11mpg in the Plymouth and I severely dislike modern cars because of how much of a pain the are to work on, that an I've heard that these can get decent mpg if you have a light foot. Plus I need something so I could stop driving the Savoy and actually start restoring it. I honestly don't have a whole lot of plans for other than some minor thing such as in stalling a radio and fixing a few of the minor flaws the car has. My There not much to complain about for the price just little things Like the passenger door can be hard to open and I want to install a radio. I plan to re-aline the trunk lid as it doesn't sit right. I also need to figure out a strange carb problem I'm having that I'm fairly certain is a choke problem, the problem being that some days I'll get in to fire it up and she'll tick like a clock and other days I'll fire her up and she hesitates, surges and stalls at lights, and then I'll be driving under these hesitating circumstances and then something will seemingly click into place and all of a sudden it'll start driving perfectly making me think that the chokes are sticking.

So did I cover everything haha lord knows that was long winded enough! Thanks again for the Welcome! I think I'm gonna like it here!!
