Hey everyone, most of you know of a purchase that I made when I was thirteen that would later change most of my life. My 1961 2 door Corvair Monza 900. I'm fifteen now and I have learned a lot about the corvair in 2 years with the car. Well I'm at it again, I recently just attained a 1965 Corvair Monza sedan. The car is more of an odd ball I've been told by some people because of the numbers matching 4spd and 140hp engine. So here are some pictures of the car from Saturday and of the 61 then and the 65 now side by side pictures. I am in the process of removing the engine and transmission and I will have that posted when I get there so for now enjoy!!!

Pretty sure I saw K-K on the body tag when I was there. That would be Artesian Turquoise. That is the color I saw on the underside of the trunk and the hood.

It is a 140 4-speed from the factory so as sporty a Sport Sedan as ever was delivered.

Yes it was originally Artesian Turquoise. I would also like to give a big thank you to azdave for making this all possible by picking me up and using his trailer to bring the car home!

Back in the 80's, one of the local club guys had an Artesian Turquoise '65 Monza sedan. 95/PG though, not your "executive sedan" setup. He sold it to another club member who fixed it up and painted it. I can't remember if he took it with him when he moved back to Wisconsin or not, but I remember it looked great in that color.

After a quick googling, I found another '65 Monza sedan in that color. This one is a 140/4 like yours.

Wow thanks for the pic!!! Now are the wire wheel hubcaps a Corsa only option that are put on to the other cars or where they available as an option

The 13" wire wheel covers fit the standard 13" steel rims on Corvairs. These wire wheel covers can often be found on eBay. Similar 14" wheel covers were often offered on other GM cars from that production period. If you choose to fit 14" steel wheels you can probably find wire wheel covers from other Chevrolet and GM products on eBay that would fit. 13" tires are becoming obsolete and are offered in very limited production, often at elevated prices. A switch to 14" or larger rims will expand your new tire options and often at more competitive prices.

The Corvair originally used 13" wire wheel covers, but there are 14" Chevrolet wire wheel covers like those pictured below that are nearly identical to the original Corvair units.

If you choose to fit 14" steel wheels...

His sedan came with 14" wheels (but not from the factory of course).

I'm guessing Jonathan got it with 14' rims because about 2 years ago the car was owned by a fellow club member who deals almost entirely with FCs and he probably changed the rims to 14" size because he had them around and they held air. This car hasn't seen the road in quite a few years so it only needed rollers to move it around where it was being stored.

The progress on the 65 has been good. On Wednesday I removed the engine with the help from my old man, Yesterday the engine and transaxle where split. And today I took most of the engine apart! Not looking forward to all of the cleaning sandblasting and painting of the engine shrouds though

I started on Corvairs when I was sixteen — working alone in my parent's garage on a 1963 Corvair 500 with a shop manual and a good supply of tools. The things I learned in 1969 have lasted to this day and beyond. You are learning skills, discipline, organization, planning, etc. that will last a lifetime. Your memories of working with your father on the car will be with both of you for a lifetime, too. That is a big "side benefit", in addition to restoring and ultimately driving a car that you will be very proud of!

They were an option, offered for Corvairs in 13 & 14 inch in this brochure that came with my 64. I assume they carried them over to the late models.
