BIGTWIN,
The '49 and the Corvette belong to a gentleman who goes by username 49Chevy on this forum. He and I met at the Maggie Valley, NC Corvair show last month. I took the pictures of his '49.
Thanks for your comment on the '64 convertible. We have 3 Corvairs at the moment. I will provide some information concerning our vehicles. As I'm sure you saw with my original post, we have a '64 500 Coupe, the '64 Monza convertible and a '65 Corsa convertible. I will post some pictures.
The '64 500 has 12,000 miles with original paint, interior, etc. It is bare bones with a 3 spd manual, rubber mat, metal plates over where backup lights would have been. The vehicle was sold new in Plains, VA. We have some documentation from the original owner. It is a great authentic example. If you are also a member of the CorvairCenterForum, there was a post some 3 weeks ago entitled "The pleasure of driving an original corvair". The author of the post took this car on a 20 mile drive and had some kind words to say.
The story on the '64 convertible is that two brothers went to the Chevrolet dealership in Lancaster, PA and bought two Corvairs. This one remained in the family that lived in Reading. After the owner passed away, some 5 years ago, a VCCA and AACA member, who lives in Reading, purchased the car and completed restoration that had begun some years before. The vehicle is a 110 h.p. automatic. The vehicle won AACA Junior and Senior awards in 2013. It then won the AACA Louis Chevrolet National award in 2014. My understanding is that one Chevrolet is chosen each year to receive this award and that this is the only Corvair ever chosen. The miles are supposedly original at 12,500.
I only have knowledge of the '65 Corsa convertible back to 2006. It was sold by RM Auctions, in Monterey, CA, and went to Oregon for two years. It then was brought to PA where the restoration took place. It is a 140 h.p. 4 speed. It got our attention due to the Cameo Beige color along with the interior colors.
Major changes are happening to us due to health and other issues. If we end up keeping one, it will probably be the '65 only because we don't feel bad adding mileage. Also, it is just an elegant vehicle to us.
