Just bought a CORSA Senior Division Car Locked up for 30 Yrs

Post by California Dreaming »

Dennis again... my '65 Monza PG Vert is STILL in Restoration since Jan 2013... Done in about 2 more months !!

Went to drop off a NOS Clock for the '65 to Marty Katz... when he said... Hey come look at this...
'66 Monza Coupe, Aztec Bronze/Black Interior, Factory AC.. Factory Tinted windshield, and glass, he restored in '84 with 2995 miles.... AMAZING

Now, in NO way shape or form, was I even anticipating THIS..... CORSA CONCOURS car.. Senior Division even.. with a funky triangular wood plaque to put on your dash, with your VIN # engraved... COOL !!!!!

Sent Marty an e-mail that night stating.... "DAMN YOU MARTY"... For showing me THAT !!!!
HIS response was.... "I had NO IDEA, that you would have the slightest interest in the car, I just wanted to show you how nice he was".... Hmmm do I buy that? Hmmmm

He'd been "Evil-ly" Locked up and held prisoner for 30 years... In So-cal by 2 owners, and ONLY shown at shows !

WTF??? I just Can't stand for THAT.... "OH HELL NO"... "I"... Set him FREE !! Got him last night..... He turned 3021 miles when delivered....

He even has "Those tie breaking features", such as .. factory T3 headlights, Mercury switch on the engine lid, that cuts off the AC when it's open, Original factory parts tag on the front wiring harness in the trunk, '66 factory oil filter that says AC DELCO on it... etc... blah blah blah

Brought him to work to show my Slot Manager who's a car nut, and owns a '65 Lincoln....
His Jaw Fell... Said... I cannot believe you got this car for what you paid.....

Then Again... Looked me in the eye and said... IF, he were mine, I'd just drive the CRAP outta him...
I nodded, and agreed, I WILL DRIVE HIM... and if he needs a touch-up here and there.... done.... Doubt he'll need another total resto in my lifetime... Nevertheless.... DRIVING HIM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take that CORSA !!! =)

BEHOLD... MY 1966 MONZA PG COUPE'.... RARE Aztec Bronze, Black Interior, RARE A/C... ENJOY !!!!!

Actually selling my 2001 Mustang Bullit GT with 26k original miles to pay this off... It basically came down to a choice... WHICH would make me happier.... My BULLITT is an AWESOME machine... BUT.. unless you're a BULLITT fan, it looks like every other million Mustangs on the planet.. NOW THIS.. THIS.. IS A GEM... SO MUCH MORE FUN.... AND ATTENTION !!!!! ...... NO REGRETS HERE !!!!!

It's like a Cargasm.... Drivin him... lolol... See the world today, in your Chevrolet... haha.. =) Am I Happy?? =)

PS:... Just scored a set of NOS factory 1966 13" Mag Hubcaps on ebay, along with a new set of whitewalls... .... Got "Hot August Nights" Plates for him..

Need a house with LOTS of garage space.... need to win the lottery.. lol.. Cuz I got the "FEVER", Want MORE !!

Ha Ha! Cool, congrats! Nice car for sure.......gee, you sound just giddy!

I think unloading the Bullitt for this was definitely worth it. I almost bought a Bullitt back in '01 but couldn't find a green one, just blue or black ones.

OK... Took photo's today... got him 5 new Maxxis MA-1 Whitewalls P185/80R13's off eBay for $99 each, free shipping.. they arrived the day after I ordered them !! My NOS Mag Caps come in Tomorrow !!, Will post pics with his new shoes, once I put them on !!

PS.. From the looks of his Build Tag in the engine compartment, he was originally Lemonwood Yellow, before his Resto in 1984... Maybe someday I'll paint him back to that.. since I LOVE Lemonwood Yellow.... Or not.. I do Love the Aztec Bronze color too, and it's a rarer color..... Your thoughts?

Got my new MAG CAPS Thursday, right before I had to get ready for work... Ripped that box apart asap.... WOW... the eBay ad said.... "Minor scratches from 50 years In storage, no boxes....

Really? Thee minute scratches on the stainless outer rims buffed right out in 2 minutes... Just like buying them off a '66 GM Parts Counter.. FLAWLESS !!!

Here's the pic of them... disregard the bronze shade in the pics.. THEY ARE ALL STAINLESS /CHROME !!!

Will post pics again, after I put them on "BronzeBoy".... =)

OK... 4 Minor Steps leads to a "TOTAL NEW LOOK"

1 -'69 Camaro Spoiler, Marty Katz threw in GRATIS
2 - Removal of Front license plate / bracket
3 - New Whitewalls, to replace FUGLY Blackwalls
4 - My NOS Mag Caps, virgins, been sitting in storage for 48 years !!!

WOW... Looks totally "Sporty" now... Like something Don Draper would drive on "Mad Men" =)
Although I'm sure he'd have a "Corsa", with a Turbo / 4 Speed... lol...

Dennis....
