Expired inspection sticker in 1987 on a 64 coupe I drove through high school and college.

you may want to consider hiring a traffic attorney or representing yourself in court. If you decide to represent yourself, be sure to dress appropriately, be respectful to the judge, and make a clear and concise argument for why you should not be held responsible for the violation.

I do have a personal experience of receiving a traffic ticket. However, it is important to prioritize safety while operating a vehicle and to follow all traffic laws to avoid receiving tickets. If you do receive a traffic ticket, it is important to take it seriously and consider the potential consequences, such as fines, points on your driving record, and increased insurance premiums. It may also be helpful to review the details of the ticket and consult with a legal professional if you have any questions or concerns.

1936 Dodge 4 dr sedan….no license, no registration, no insurance, no muffler, no plates, no vehicle inspection. State Police. $100.00 fine in 1959; next Police didn’t show up in Court, Judge dismissed ticket with the understanding that I quiet the straight pipes on my 1953 Hudson Super Jet with split manifold. Did so with tips still sounded good….that was in 2018. County Sheriff.

I think it was a 72 Honda Cb350. Excessive speed on turn. I think it was in 1977

Got my first ticket in a rented Jeep Wrangler while road-tripping through Argentina. I was exploring Patagonia with a friend, on our way to a day tour we’d booked with https://gowithguide.com/argentina but we were running late. Felt like we were in the clear on this empty stretch of road. Until the ticket happened! Guess you can't dodge speed limits, even in the middle of nowhere.

I don't remember my first ticket. I guess I've had way too many.
Speed kills is such drivel. Bad drivers, mistakes and equipment failures can cause accidents. I guess technically if you are going zero miles an hour you won't be injured. Speed limits used to be 55 here and now they are 75 on some of those same roads. I guess physics suddenly changed and 75 is now safe when it used to kill.
I've been to Honduras 3x now where they don't enforce speed limits, have almost no stop signs or traffic lights, at least 50% of the vehicles have at least one tail light burned out and a lot have no tail lights or brake lights. Yes they have a lot of traffic and the roads are almost all turns in the mountains. Some people go the speed limit but even buses and trucks are often going at least double the limit. I have done a lot of driving there every time and have yet to see an accident. I can't remember the last time I drove more than 30 minutes here without seeing an accident. We have crappy drivers. Speed limits are not the answer.

First ticket? I believe that was in Summer of 1972 while riding a '66 Honda 305 Scrambler. Returning home from an afternoon riding about the nearby canyons when a sharp eyed cop spied my motorcycle had no mirrors (dirt bikes and street legal enduros don't need mirrors, right?). If I recall, the fine was $50. An expensive lesson for a teenager.

It's interesting that this thread was started by Phil in 2010 and came alive again in 2014, 2023 and now again.
I had an accident before I had my license on a dirt road going too fast. My Father had let me take the car and took the blame.
My first car (and ticket) was a '69 Javelin with a 232 six cylinder. Nothing to do with a ticket but what a lousy car in the snow.

Last weekend I watched a show about the upcoming "smart" roadway designs. There is little doubt that traffic volume will increase in the near future. Using technology to communicate with the newer cars and devices along roadways will help reduce congestion. The insurance companies are thrilled this will diminish speeding and careless/reckless driving.
Don't blame "big government", this is business seeing an opportunity to make money by offering a reduction in congestion and accidents. Drivers will spend less time in traffic jambs and reduced accidents MIGHT reduce insurance rates.
The downside ---- BIG BUSINESS IS WATCHING YOU as you drive around. People who drive "unacceptable" will face increased costs via fines and higher insurance premiums. No doubt eventually if you do not drive a car "plugged into" the system you will be unable to use some roadways.
BTW - some states are considering laws to ban companies from gathering you real-time driving information from your new car and selling it to insurance companies (and others). At this time is is LEGAL to do so. I see a market for a device blocking this sort of thing.
As I like to say ---- follow the business news if you want to know what is going on. "Follow the Money".

Re: What Vehicle Did You Get Your First Traffic ticket In?
I've been a pretty good kid when it comes to tickets.
Got one on my '86 Yamaha FZ600. I was tail end charlie in a long line of cars westbound on SR14 in SW Washington, just before the Bonneville dam. Bonneville is Federal property, so speed limit is 55. Unlike the rest of SR14, which is 65. Easy pickin's for the Klickitat Sheriff. Good thing he didn't find me further back in the hills. The road from CurlyCreek Falls south to White Salmon is mucho fun.
Drove a '67 VW Bus across the 90's. Got harassed all the time by coppers looking for the bales of MaryJane hidden deep in the already slow Bus. Dim license plate light was one of the lamest excuses. Of course it's dim, you ever see the fuse panel on those things?

The FZ600 was cool. I had an FJ600. The FZ was a Japanese FZ400 with an FJ600 engine with smaller carburetors. Really small bike. I wish I had one.
