Colours - today vs. the past - what is yours?
Colours - today vs. the past - what is yours?
I was reading an article about car colours and white, silver and black are on top nowadays.
I was wondering what did you guys paint your Corvairs? I know that red seems to be the most popular choice. Am I right?
Are you sticking with the original paint scheme?; something similar or went in a totally different direction?

You left out a color. RUST!! :) My most current vair is red and rust. Some day it will likely be black with violet flames.
Corvair guy since 1982. I have personally restored at least 20 Vairs, many of them restored ground up.

Staying original. Or returning to original that is. Car is currently Resale Red. Going back to the original Silver Blue.

I copied these off an article about new cars. Rust wasn't listed as a dealer option for some reason.

Mine was originally white. P.O. painted it maroon, P.O. before him made it red. I went back to the original Ermine White with red interior.

I'm a bit shocked not to see more red ones, so far at least.
I do like various shades of blue on a Corvair though and I am tempted to paint mine this colour when I fix it mechanically. it was originally red, then blue, then red again.

I chose Orange but my car is actually a one year only in 1968 color called Corvette Bronze ,
It was only used on Corvettes and Camaros .

I was told by the person I bought my Spyder from that the shade of yellow he had it painted is an Oldsmobile color, and not a Chevrolet Color.
Not too sure what it's called, though.
My car was originally Red with a Black interior, I do know that.
Personally, I kinda wish mine was TARDIS Blue...silver/grey interior, too.

My 66 Corsa is madeira marroon. Arguably the best color option that year in my opinion.

We went with the original Goldwood Yellow (code 943) on the Spyder in a base/clear. I think it's a little darker than the original due to the clear coat. Jeff

Although it's been repainted once mine is the original palmar red. If it weren't so original I would be tempted to do something completely custom for both interior and exterior.
