rusty truck gives up power train
rusty truck gives up power train
today I dropped the power train from my rusty truck I used the finch cart hybrid . I have never used this method b4 Went very smooth No drama . next I'm going to pull the heads and have them rebuilt .The reason I think its the heads is because after doing a compression check. the weak cylinders all had bent push rod tubes possibly stuck valves..

That looks like it worked very well! Nicely done.

Re: rusty truck gives up power train
Yes and the GM tool number is j 43564. I was finally able to split the drive train today and mount the engine on an engine stand my garage and back yard and patio area are a total mess and my wife has pointed this out to me more than once .... so now I have to take a breather from the project and rehab this mess I've created... Does this happen to anybody else or am I really disorganized????The last time my back yard looked this bad I was installing sprinklers...Anyways the previous owner told me the rusty truck had a fresh engine and new brakes all around. The brakes do look new I'll have to wait and see on the condition of this so called "fresh" engine.....I already know for a fact I have little or no compression on 2 cylinders on the same bank/ both show bent push rod tubes...in all fairness I did not follow the recomended procedure for starting an engine that has sat for many years. We drove it onto the trailer and I didn't know about the recomended procedure until way after the fact... Oh well live and learn......flat6_musik wrote:I see you've got the rare Pooh-Bear corvair cylinder head holder too.....
