Alternator fan and pulley opinion?

Post by corvairnutt 1969 »

Whats some opinions on fan/pulley for a corvair alternator? The factory fan/pulley or a bi directional one? Does one cool better then the other? I was wondering about the marine type bi directional pulley/fan.

Thanks.

I'm no expert on this, but the stock Corvair fan is hard to beat. Biggest problem people have is putting on the wrong one, the difference being the way the fins are turned. To my understanding, the way the originals work is to draw air out of the alternator, not to blow through. It is a very common misunderstanding.

Yea i knew it draws air from the back of the alt to the front i just wanted to know if the bi directional worked as well as the stock fan because the bi directional has a strait fan covered with a solid piece so you can run it either way cw or ccw.
