4 wheel disks going on today!

Just a heads up, I'll be updating this thread with pics of my brothers prototype 4 wheel disk setup. He's using an all new never before tried part source. A 93 Camaro. I'll be snapping pics and taking notes all day, and posting when I can. Hopefully, we'll be birthing a brand new way to bring cheap easy disks to our hobby.

Yeah Tony - keep us posted. I think the 93 Camaro setup was one that I considered back when I did mine. Isn't that Camaro one that used staggered calipers with one side in front and the other side behind the axle . I can't remember much more about them as far as the caliper type or E-brake setup.

I'm sure it'll be a first class install judging by previous work you two have done.

I saw a cool setup at the Detroit convention that had a small seperate aftermarket caliper for the E-brake. Can't remember the brand name right now but I've got pics somewhere !

Still tinkering ou there. We've got the rear hubs apart, the shop that pressed the hub back together chiggered one of the threads, so we're fixing that. pics to ensue soon.

Here's the first test with the wheel on. We only got the rears done, but they work beautifully. Now, we just have to take it all apart, clean everything, paint and reassemble for the final time, then start on the front end. The fronts should be much easier. We're tearing into that next Friday.

Tony do these have a provision for an E-Brake?

Yes. the ebrake system on those calipers is cable operated very similarly to the original drums. All we have to do is get some cables fabbed up. in the images, the ebrake system isnt there yet. We removed all the stuff until we were sure the actual brakes worked.

For those asking for brackets, we're working on it. If nothing else, We'll post the dimentions so you can head over to your local waterjet shop and get some made up for around a hundered bucks. Then, you'll need 4 junkyard REAR brakes off a 93 Camaro. (its unknown if the fronts will work, the calipers are different.) and then you'll have to get some front flex line, and some hard lines.

So far, for the rear, we went to the local Napa store and purchased a 1' long "adapter" length of brake line with the "new car" fitting on the end, so It would bolt up to the camaro's existing rubber brake line. We cut the other end off, slid the old Corvair end on, used our nifty flaring tool, and attached it where it would have attached on the swing arm before.

Note: the bolt circle is of course slightly different on the hubs, but they will fit over the stock lugs on the vair without issue. The center bore is smaller on the new Camaro hubs. You'll have to either have someone lathe out the middle, (its less than 1/16 off) or use a die grinder like we did.

He's been driving it all day, no issues. Several hard stops. The only thing jerking the wheel is the front brakes now. I look forward to getting the fronts done, and sharing that with you guys too.

Note also, that Baer makes "erataspeed" Rotors that are a direct replacement for stock if you want that cool crossdrilled and slotted look, with the riveted on aluminum center hat. Like this:


for a pretty affordable price. Or, even cheaper the "Decelarotors" line here. Which is what I will be using when I do my car.
