front crossmember

Post by mart »

Could anyone suggest where I can get a good used front crossmember for my 66 coupe? I would have liked to use Clarks as I can trust them , but they dont have any. I have contacted Opus and Corvair ranch but would appreciate any help on this. I originally intended to repair my original but the deeoer I got into it the worse it got, spring housing is totaly shot, inside and shock tower is bad

Yeh , it just gets worse the more I dig into it, I think a replacement is the only way, I dont fancy trying to repair the spring seat, I can imagine all sorts of problems with strength, ride height, spring seating etc :banghead:

Hey Mart....I was thinking the same thing. I'm sure you can find a beautiful used one from here in the states for a very reasonable price, but yeah I know....shipping's a killer. Rust never sleeps. Crossmember's that go crunch = not pretty.

The Corvair Ranch is a reputable place to get parts from. Great people.

Hoping to hear back from Jeff to see if he can help, has anyone here tried marrying 2 good half's together? its the left, drivers side that is bad, not sure if this is good practice, but it might work and maybe halve my shipping costs

Do you have any pics of them, how much would you want for one. ?

Did you find a crossmember? I was visiting with a club member last weekend & saw a decent crossmember sitting on the floor...it's for sale.
