LM Seat track extenders

Post by dixon5553 »

Hi looking for feedback from anyone who has made the front bucket seat track extenders - the ones that are 18 inch long- and have 4 holes with one hole being spaced at 14 and 1/4 inches apart. My question do these simply just bolt to the seat mounting bolts and then the seat gets bolted to the extenders? Do these work as claimed? Thanks

Essentially the same for EM's. Unbolt the seat. Move out of way. Bolt extenders to body at original positions. Then set the seat with the front track holes thru the studs/bolts, then bolt back end of seat tracks to extender. Tighten all bolts (rear) and nuts(front).

It was easier to get in my '61 Monza back in 1974 as a 19 year old, than it is now as a 70 year old into my '64, even with the extenders and a stock 16" steering wheel. The extenders do help a lot. I got mine from Clarks.

I'm about 6'1 and though I could get comfy behind the wheel of my 65 I'd be absolutely crippled after long drives.

The rail extenders def helped me. Just another two inches or so makes all the difference in the world.

I'm 6'-1" and I love seat extenders. When I drive other people's Corvairs I feel cramped. I just make my own.

I also happen to have a spare pair of the Clarks rail extenders.

I'd probably sell them for what I paid for them at Clarks.
120 plus shipping

Not cheap, but worth it to me.

I purchased the ones from Clarks and they work fine. The holes line up perfectly.

I’ve installed Clark’s seat extenders in 2 Corsa Covertibles. In both cases I had to cut a notch in the inner rear corner to clear an extra bump on the tunnel. Not sure if that is a convertible issue only. Other than that minor modification they are perfect. I’m 6’1” and they provide more than enough additional room..

I just bought an EM and first order of business will be seat extenders, as I wear a 36" inseam. My thinking is that the 3" offered on the Clark's extenders may not be long enough for me. I've read from others on the Forum that they made their own using slightly longer bar stock. Might be cheaper than $119, no offense to Clark's.

I wonder also why the Clark's bars (no pun intended) have a pair (two) holes at one end, vs. one hole at the other.
