I am looking for thoughts on a high temp adhesive or any other thoughts or ideas to stick the knob back on my lighter unit. The chrome is great, and I got it working and releasing as I want (quest to make the car 100% functional), but the knob loosely falls off now. I can't think of any high temp resistant adhesive, and a set screw or any visible mechanical fastener is definitely not an option, and this knob is by far in the best condition of all in the collection.
Thanks as always!

For stuff like that I use JB WELD. I patched a crack in a 216 stovebolt 6 exhaust on Grandpa's '51 GMC 3100 in one of the runners. Ran it for over a year with no problems, till I found a good one at junkyard

YES --- if it gets hotter than JB Weld can handle --- best to have the fire extinguisher handy. Use the old original JB Weld, not fast set up version.Torskdoc423 wrote: ↑Thu May 01, 2025 1:54 pm For stuff like that I use JB WELD. Why not add some solder to the metal stub to increase mechanical grip? Worth a shot. Brush it while it’s still hot to control the thickness of the solder.
