Tear repair ?

Hi Everyone. Is there a way to repair a 4" tear in a 64 vert top. A result of a runaway extintion ladder

I had a convertible that recieved a cut similar to that. I had the white diamond vinyl top what had the black inside backing material. I bought black heavy duty cloth iron on patch held the tear as close together as I could on the exterior and used the iron on patch on the interior. This worked for years afterwards. It was still holding when I replaced the top due to the rear curtain rotting out.

My 66 Convertible lived with a torn top from 2000ish until 2024. When the top was cut (to steal a cheap radio), Dad used weatherstripping adhesive to bond another piece of top material (top was basically new when it was cut) on the underside. The cut was visible from the top, but completely weather tight even when I finally decided to change it (for other reasons).

Thanks for the info. I'll be getting another top just not right now. To many projects at once

This is about the most aggressive tape I have ever used . Get the genuine brand , not Chinese version. Use it on one side or both. the repair will last for years.

Thank you again. I got some Camco on the way now I just have to learn not to trip while carrying a ladder! It could of been alot worse. Have a great day everyone
