Carb rebuild. 65 Monza.
Does one (straight end) of the carb float spring go into this little hole just after of the needle seat? (At pencil point)
Or,
Does it put lay on angle, next to the needle seat?
Thanks for any advice.

Re: Carb float spring?
In the lower picture the upper arm of the spring needs to go into a small hole on the float. If it is an early float there won't be a hole. It looks like the other end of the spring should be on the back side of the seat. When the top of the carb is held in the upright position the spring should be lifting on the float.

Properly installed and adjusted, with the top cover held with the float hanging down, the spring will make the float seem almost weightless.
Re: Carb float spring?
CORRECT, but it will be almost weightless (bobs a little) at the lowest float drop specification. Make sure the float drop is set BEFORE checking the spring.Wagon Master wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 2:31 pm Properly installed and adjusted, with the top cover held with the float hanging down, the spring will make the float seem almost weightless.
Also check the spring rod that goes in the float arm hole for a groove (were it touches float). If badly worn, replace spring. The repro springs almost always need to be adjusted.
