Just stopped by California Corvairs and bought a bunch of parts.
Doesn’t look like $1000+ but it is.

Re: 1960 Monza Coupe
Nice! I have not yet been to California Corvairs.
I'm spoiled, I live in Torrance, not far from Mike of https://mikescorvairparts.com/ and he delivers parts when he's in my area. I usually drive a few miles to intercept him but at least one time he came right to my house to see my in-progress "Vair in the air.
And prior to that (many moons ago), I had Larry's Corvair Parts nearby as well. Larry Shapiro.

Re: 1960 Monza Coupe
To me, it is the best lookin' 1960 Corvair I've seen... it looks GREAT! But there doesn't appear to be much 1960 left in the old girl...

Well motor is back out. Had a couple leaks.
Hopefully I can get it back in this weekend.
Also went to California Corvairs again today and got a gasket I needed and a few more goodies.

Re: 1960 Monza Coupe
The motor is back in.
I redid the wiring a bit tonight. It was a mess. I’m guessing the dash wiring will also be a mess when I get there.
Added new shocks to the rear.
We had to modify a late motor mount bracket so I could get the belt on. Pics attached.

I would guess that a '64-'65 FC bracket would be what you need.

Re: 1960 Monza Coupe
Today I installed a Facet electronic fuel pump near the tank.
Yesterday I bent new fuel lines so there is no more rubber lines in the engine compartment.
Also rebuilding the shifter and adding a quick shift kit.
The shifter was very difficult to remove. The last person to install it stripped the threads on one of the bolts and it would not come off. Took two of us a crow bar and a big impact to finally get it removed.

Re: 1960 Monza Coupe
More progress.
Motor is done except for the rubber surrounds.
Got the Roger Parent pulleys installed and his clutch cable installed as well. Cleaned the floors up and putting corrosion resistant undercoating/sound deadening and will install more sound deadening on top of that when it dries. Installed new rear shocks, 100amp alternator. Ran into some bad wiring during that job and had to rewire most of the engine compartment (pic posted earlier).

Re: 1960 Monza Coupe
Got the floors cleaned up. Fixed and rebuilt the vent on the passenger side so my wife will be able to use it. It works perfectly now.
Now working on cleaning, dying and installing Honda Civic seats.
Adjusted the brakes.
I need to adjust the clutch and throttle then it should be ready to test drive. I had some help from my four legged buddy AJ.
I’m trying desperately to get it ready for a car show in two days. This will be a bucket list thing for me. It will be a show with both my Corvair and my Dad's Corvair together. First time for his car going to a show and this will be the second show for my car.

However...
Need to get one of these to match the front-end of your '60 Corvair!

Re: 1960 Monza Coupe
She's a beauty. That spun rod bearing is a bitch. How did that happen? Did you tear it down already?
These good old boys just put a new bearing in and fired that mother up. Not recommended!
This guy shows an interesting way to polish a journal.
