What is this rubber strip under my hood?

Post by gastephens »

I am replacing the standard weatherstrip around the engine compartment but the lid has the remnants of a rubber seal with a wire core. I can't find it in Clark's catalog or any mention on the forum.

What is it?
Where can I get one?

Thanks!

Thanks. I failed reading comprehension today. It must have been the mixed fonts!

Your early model car does not use weatherstrip in the channel around the lid opening. It only uses this one strip at the rear of the lid. Some cars had another strip across the front of the lid opening mounted in the body flange centered between the hinges. There was not weatherstripping down the sides and across the rear on the body.

So they made the channel and didn't fill it. Interesting. That explains why the channel is clean. Saves me some work.
