Re: Pushrod Rotation... Why?

If your assembly lube caused even remotely more friction than plain motor oil, it's time to find a new assembly lube.

I say go ahead and recommend your super bright bulb choice and let us decide. With the inner led loops, did you add a cardboard tube to isolate the center backup light bulb?
Thanks guys!

Re: Brake Fluid Question

When you're looking for brake fluid, go by the DOT number, DOT 3, 4, 5.1.
Don't be confused by the words synthetic and silicone.
A lot of the 3, 4, 5.1 fluids are synthetic.
ONLY 5 is silicon, and NOT compatible with the others.
Hope that makes sense.

I wouldn't think the clip fell out. Looks like the pushrod wore it out.

Re: High Pressure spring

I have not had the same results as 66vairguy. I either stretch the stock spring 3/8", shim it 1/4" or replace with the 1970 Z/28 spring, but never all three. Usually wind up with 50 p.s.i. cold. 25p.s.i. at hot idle and 35 p.s.i. hot highway speed. 10w30 conventional oil.

Re: Hydraulic Pressin'

1. Put some safety glasses with side shields on the girl! 2. For bearing assy's of any sort, or anything that requires almost her/your whole body pressure, put a heavy blanket over the assy. If either bearing race shatters as that "Big Boom" happens, it sends high carbon steel flying like...

Manofsteel, Could you please private message me the vendor that supplied your defective balancer? I'm in need of one and want to avoid your experience. Thanks.

Re: Removal of Rear Grill

I am in the process of painting my 65 Corsa and want information on how to remove the grill behind the rear window. I found some information on removing it on a coupe but not a convertible. Any ticks I should know? Do I have to remove the rear part of the top? Any help would be appreciated. Larry

Re: leaking pushrod tube bores on re-worked heads

Not seeing it in your original post, I'm going to ASSUME you replaced the original o-ring(s). If not, they could have been nicked on assembly.

Re: 1965 Corvair 110

You can now get a borescope app for your smart phone to inspect cyl. wall condition. After that, I would fill all cylinders, through the spark plug holes, till they won't hold anymore, with a solution of 50/50 Acetone and Automatic transmission fluid. Put a large drip pan or absorbent under the eng...

Re: Installing valve guides ?

Don't do it!
The way the heads were made, there's very little chance that the valve guide i.d. and o.d. are concentric.
Most use inserts, k-liners or replace the guides along with high press seats.
