LM stiffening question

Good afternoon I am working on cleaning and repairing some rust spots on my 66 Vert in the picture attached I have circled a couple of what look like reinforcing plates welded in place near the rear torque boxes (if that's what they are called on the corvair), Not my car but a pic I pulled from the ...

Fan pulley - over running clutch

Has anyone experimented w one way clutch, overrunning clutch OAP/OAD pulley on a corvair fan pulley. Did it have any positive impact on belt jumping, efficiency/performance, noise etc.?

Thanks

Corvair diet food

20190126_203052.jpg Hi Just a tidbit that has probably said before but I'm relatively new (again after 50 years). I plan to slowly try to put my car (66 convertable) on a small diet to reduce the weight as much as possible. I plan to stiffen it a bit so at a minimum not let it get too fat. I found ...

Re: Corvair Vert Stiffening

I have the dampeners - this is mostly self inflicked concern - car seems ok but if the one time I put 4 people in it the doors didnt latch the same, and the rockers have been replaced - how well I'm not sure yet and it was a Michigan car. So this is mostly unnecessary worry and my pension normal ...

Re: Corvair Vert Stiffening

Thanks -- I have looked at many of the other welded in ideas some OK some pretty heavy -- not that it makes any real difference for a street car but I ALWAYS try to hard to design light and strong. If the carbon fiber stuff will work/fit it is amazingly stiff and very light. But this looks like a ...

Corvair Vert Stiffening

[img]I have asked a couple of questions about this before and I am still searching for a solution 1st idea -- I have been kicking around involves carbon fiber square tubing - expensive - but very light and seems to fit some of the shapes along the side rails. 2nd idea -- see attached this looks like ...

LM tunnel side covers

I have a question request. My LM tunnel covers and sides are not in great shape. I ordered a set from Clark's and the bottom pans are on the way but, the side covers/reinforcements are no longer available. I believe in supporting the corvair suppliers but since these are not being produced I wonder ...

Re: LM Convert Unibody bottom Pictures

Thanks - since the only corvair's I have ever had apart were new this is very helpful. It is surprizing that none of the body books seem to have pictures of this stuff?
if there are other pictures like that out there point me to them if you can

Re: LM Convert Unibody bottom Pictures

Thanks to all who have commented- I have a 66 Vert that has had the rockers replaced but I'm not sure if they just covered up the rusted metal or actually welded them in structurally. I just acquired a parts cart that may well become my reference pictures depending on how bad it really is. Someone ...

Re: LM Convert Unibody bottom Pictures

I am just back into Corvairs I had a 65 turbo coupe in 65 and this is my first so kind of starting all over again. I have one Fisher body book ...

LM Convert Unibody bottom Pictures

Good Afternoon, I am new to this forum so point me to the right place if it already exists. I am looking for a few pictures and details of how the body is constructed (I have a 66 Convert) interested in repairs and stiffening so I wanted to see what it is supposed to look like and what parts do most ...
