Re: The Audacious V8 Corvair
I have just been grinding it off where I need to weld, probably should 'media blast' the whole car, but no time or money for that, might do it after it is all together and running, then tear it back apart and detail it, but for now grinding works. Here you can see that I have removed the shock ...

Re: The Audacious V8 Corvair
I have been able to put a little time into this project. Working on getting the front suspension installed. I am wondering what is the best way to remove all the 'goop' from the front frame rails and firewall? Is that buytl rubber? Will dry ice work like it does for sound deadening in newer cars?

Re: LS3 Corvair
Nice work, looks great! I'd like to see more details on the front and rear framing, no in-process pics?
I see you louvered the hood to get the radiator airflow, what about intake air for the engine?

Re: The Audacious V8 Corvair
Well I ordered a pair of Anzo 841002 headlights that were supposed to be polycarbonate face, and they are glass. MF Looks like they USED to have polycarbonate lens, but now are made with glass. I found one reference that USA dot rules require glass lens, that "Euro" headlights can be 'plastic', so ...

Re: Definition of "Patina"
Well there is nothing more hideous ugly and wrong than fake patina. The original no-paint-job paint job is flat black. My 63 Falcon was just rattle-can flat black. Some pay big bucks to have a no-paint-job paint job in flat black. Sheesh. "real flames" were the big trend a while back, maybe still is ...

Re: The Audacious V8 Corvair
They do make plastic 7" round H4 style head lamp assemblies. They used to be all over the place on Ebay. Yeah, that would do it, although it wouldn't give a 'ralley sport' look. See if I can find some..that don't cost $100 each.. http://bullmotifminispares.com/1896/wipac_free_form_headlight_lens ...

Re: The Audacious V8 Corvair
I am not able to do much work on this car, but I am still "working" on it in my mind. And while I'm still go back and forth on the manual vs automatic trans, one thing that needs some ideas is how to cover the headlights. In road racing the headlights need to be covered (not sure really why I assume ...

Re: Definition of "Patina"
That isn't patina, that happened very quickly with a fire. Patina occurs over a long period of time.
My Corvair has awesome patina, you can't make or fake a real patina!

Re: The Audacious V8 Corvair
I've had to divert attention to a house I am flipping to get it finished before the summer ends and this housing boom goes bust... But just to give something to look at engineering wise, I built a second cement mixer, this one will mix a half-yard of concrete. Used some 55 gallon barrels, toyota ...

Re: Blue & White paint?
I like the two tone look, just did a 96 mustang two tone, black and green.
I'm thinking black on top and silver on the bottom, with red pin stripe between them.

Re: 69 Camaro lines on 67 Corvair?
OK, so the 69 camaro idea was lame. ;) Here is something I found which is more what I had in mind, which actually makes it look more like a 70 Challenger. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/4e/b5/cc/4eb5ccd8d13d4381252606236f0291cf.jpg 70 Challenger: http://speednik.com/files/2011/12/roadster ...

Here is the stance with the 'phone dial' porsche wheels, I like it. I think the 928 has wider rear phone dials, so I might try to scout out a pair of those.

The Audacious V8 Corvair
I have committed to the Audacious Plan for the 67 Mid Engine V8 Corvair: 1999 Audi 4.2 V8 (all aluminum DOHC fuel injected engine) 1987 Porsche 944S 5 speed (098 transaxle, same as 944 Turbo, used with many LS V8 conversions) 1987 Porsche 944S front suspension (disk brakes, rack-n-pinion, coil-over ...

69 Camaro lines on 67 Corvair?
I can predict the response already, but going to ask anyway... As I posted about before, I've got a 67 that I'm building as a mid-engine car. While I haven't committed yet, I did buy a 87 Porsche 944S to use its 5-speed transaxle, rear suspension, and front suspension, and I bought a Audi 4.2 V8 ...
