The "new" AC Delco pumps are NOT the same as the original AC Delco pumps. They are just like the Airtex or Spectra pumps.
When I said AC Delco, I meant one of the OEM original AC Delco or similar.

Re: Fuel pressure 12psi
Yes you can try cutting the spring but I have found some of the newer pumps will not come down much. What I have done is swap in a spring from an old OEM AC Delco pump.

Re: Cam timing - what to trust ?
If it is an aftermarket cam I would check it with a degree wheel. My custom grind Crower was 16 degrees because they cut the key way slot in the wrong spot! Dave has had similar experiences.

Re: Pilot Bushing
I have an old junk input shaft that I use. I pack it with grease and it pops right out. My buddy Dave uses bread and that works well too.

Re: Roller Rockers from a SBC
No. Full roller rockers are Corvair specific with 1 style for small valve engines and the other for 140's. The valves are canted at an angle so the rocker must be angled as well. Comp Cams Magnum tips have been used but require some modifications such as welding the oil holes shut and drilling new o...

No but people adapt the G body/S10 ball joints and spindlesjmikulec wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2017 2:14 pm Is there an older chevy or maybe ford that would be more common to access parts for front suspension that would fit on a corvair?

Re: 1969 corvair vehicle sequence numbers
Build quality was terrible on the 69's especially the later ones. Many had damaged body panels, missing parts or assembly procedures. My convertible has a big kink at the bottom of the left side door hinge pillar like someone dropped it before it was welded on. Dave Keillor who has a highly option c...

Re: 1969 corvair vehicle sequence numbers
The sequence # is part of the puzzle. Fisher was stock piling bodies. If you look at the Finger tip facts book you will see the bodies on the last 10 cars were actually older than the ones that preceded them. Last 10 has dates of 04D where the ones that preceded them were 05A. The bodies numbers are...

Do you have original GM rockers or have you switched to the Clark's aftermarket rockers already?

They do make plastic 7" round H4 style head lamp assemblies. They used to be all over the place on Ebay.

Re: Transmission rebuilt kit problem. HELP!!!
Contact a used parts vendor such as California Corvairs or the Corvair Ranch and get a used one.
I would have no problems using a used one.

Re: Transmission rebuilt kit problem. HELP!!!
The only conventional Powerglides that share anything with the Corvair are the aluminum 62-63 models and those share the reverse and high clutch packs and maybe the vacuum modulator. Everything else is unique to the Corvair. Most of those kits on Ebay are for 64-73 Powerglide models which everything...

Re: Gasket Sealer
By trade I have been a technician for many years as well as worked in several performance shops. Some people use it for intake end seals on a lot of V6 and V8 engines. I have used Right Stuff and taken engines apart that used it.It still can get squeezed into the engine if you apply too much. It act...

I am always hesitant to use rtv of any kind because no matter how careful you are the excess always manages to find its way to the pick up screen. There are other Corvair guys such as Dave Motohead who have plenty of Corvair engine pictures ruined with rtv.

Re: 3spd. To 4 spd swap
As you are intent on swapping the transmission in any event, may I ask if swapping in a five (5) speed transmission would be a reasonable alternative? For those with experience; would the labor, or cost of labor for the five speed swap be similar to the four speed? Also does the five speed trans co...
